Biography

Tobias Fehenberger was born in Freising (Germany) in 1986. He received the Dipl.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2011 and his Dr.-Ing. in 2017, also from TUM. He studied abroad at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and did his Master Thesis at University College London, UK. Tobias also holds a B.Sc. in Management and Technology from TUM. From 2012 to 2017, he was a Research and Teaching Assistant at the TUM Institute for Communications Engineering. He is the 2014 recipient of the Prof. Dr. Ralf Kötter Memorial Award for his diploma thesis and was awarded the 2015 teaching prize of the TUM Electrical Engineering student association. He received the 2017 IEEE Photonics Society Graduate Student Fellowship Award for his publication record and the 2018 dissertation award from the Information Technology Society (ITG) within the VDE. His research focuses on coded modulation, constellation shaping, and general information-theoretic aspects of nonlinear fiber optics.
