Viswanathan Ramachandran was born in Kerala, India, in 1989. He obtained his bachelors and masters degrees in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Mumbai in 2011 and 2014 respectively.
He completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 2020. He held brief postdoc appointments with IIT Bombay and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research during the year 2020.
Since February 2021, he has been a postdoc on the project “FUN-NOTCH: Fundamentals of the Nonlinear Optical Channel” at the Signal Processing Systems (SPS) Group, Department of Electrical Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in The Netherlands.
His research interests are in information theory and wireless communications, particularly in joint source-channel coding and channel simulation problems in multi-terminal settings. His current focus is on capacity bounds for WDM channel models in the highly non-linear regime.
