About SPS group

In our group we attempt to create a stimulating and pleasant working environment, since such an environment creates personal fulfillment while also optimizing productivity. To this end the group has an informal ‘open-door’ research culture that provides an excellent basis for cross-fertilization between subgroups and with external partners. Frequent social events, such as our yearly cycling trip and our new year gatherings, help to create a sense of togetherness and help to acquaint our international group members with the Dutch landscape, attractions, and culture.

We strongly stimulate international collaboration, e.g. through bidirectional sabbaticals, through a strong involvement in the structural international collaborations of TU/e with Zhejiang University (Hangzhou, China), the National University of Singapore, and the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras. Also, we actively stimulate board-level participation in international organizations such as IEEE, the European Signal Processing association (Eurasip), the International Contrast Ultrasound Society (ICUS), and the Society in Europe for Simulation Applied to Medicine (SESAM). One of our IEEE Fellows, Dr. Martin Bastiaans, currently serves as director of IEEE Region 8, which spans Europe, Africa, and a part of Asia.
